TTT #77: Good Music I Love This Week

Hey folks!  I am doing pretty good this week.  How are you?  Good, good.  I didn't really know which way to go this week so my theme is just music I have been enjoying lately.  So here is said playlist.

I wish I had more to say at the moment but I don't really, sadly.  I really am in a writing mood, but alas, I have no voice to extend through the ether.  I suppose the random ramblings of a introverted extrovert will have to suffice this week.

On with it...

Try not.  Do, or Do Not.  There is no Try.

Go Do - Jonsi

Both the cover picture and the Native American head dress picture are both Jonsi.  I think the cover of his album Go was just a great mood pic for this play list.  So I kept it.

Jonsi is pretty new to me this month.  I am really digging this album, this song in particular.  You should get it if ya can.  He deserves your praise.

For-Eh-Vur

Forever - HAIM

When I first heard the song 'The Wire' from sister group Haim, I instantly fell in love.   When I downloaded the album this song quickly became one of my favorites.  I have been playing it heavily this week because it is on some commercial (which one escapes me at this moment) that plays during the commercial breaks on Hulu.  As my girlfriend and I watch a lot of Hulu, I hear it a lot and it has been stuck in my head all week.  Still a great song.  I love the drums in this song.

Don't Stop Believing

Look Of Love - The Jezabels

Way back in Covers That Give Me Hope For Modern Music I talked about a YouTube channel called TripleJ that features a lot of bands doing covers of songs they like.  The Jezabels did a great cover of the Journey classic Don't Stop Believing. I watched their performance of their song Look of Love and immediately fell in love. You should too. Seriously.  Now.

Dents Sauvages

Wild - Royal Teeth

My lady fair writes a music article for her school newspaper.  Sometimes we share music.  I from my blog, her from her article.  This gem is one she sent my way.  They played at SXSW.

I wouldn't mind going to SXSW one year.  I feel like the bulk of the music I like is formed in or around Austin.  Hipsters are my friends.

You Always Make Me Smile - Kyle Andrews

My weird lover bean. =)

Incredibly Long Title to go With an Incredibly Long Band Name

My Terrible Friend - The Pains of Being Pure of Heart

I really like the name of this band.  It's got feeling inside it.  I think there are a lot of pains in being pure of heart.  I also feel like if I were to tweet that band name I would run out of charact

Our Brother, I found You!

Hey Brother - Avicii

I'm sure you have heard the song Wake Up by Avicii.  In fact, I believe I have featured it on one of my past blogs.  Maybe not, honestly I lose track.  I have a file that keeps track for me, but I refuse to look.  Don't judge me.

Anyway, I have two things to say about this song.  First, the guy singing the vocals is none other than Dan Tyminski.  Don't know who that is?  Well you may know him from his work in Union Station, the back up group for Alison Krauss.  But if AK isn't your cup of tea he also sang the lead vocals on the popular track from O Brother Where Art Thou 'Man Of Constant Sorrow'.  He's doing a great job, singing country on dance music.  I like it.

The second thing I wanted to say is, I love the fact that electronic dance music is more country than country music now.  Just sayin'...

Dat Bass Line...

The World - Selah Sue

I was playing with the settings on my sound card earlier.  No particular reason, sometimes it's fun just to screw around.  I have found that if you drop Selah Sue 4 octaves, she still sounds pretty damn good.  Hurray for the Karaoke setting.  Those eyes though...

Just Because

The Safety Dance - Sleeping At Last

I just wanted to include it because I have been listening to it a lot lately.  It is a slowed down, mellow, sad version of an upbeat Men Without Hats song.  I mean come...

He made The Safety Dance sound emo.  It has a Bright Eyes kind of feel.  I understand if it doesn't scratch that certain need that the original Safety Dance itches.  For that, I apologize.

Click Me for restitution.

That's all folks.  Til next week.
